MySpace Tracker HARD OUT HERE FOR A BLOGGER. // I have no problem calling Miles Davis my favourite...
HIGHRES
I have no problem calling Miles Davis my favourite artist, living or dead. While other musicians might make catchier music, or have really cool guitar riffs, there is no musician ever who has made music thats got me on a personal level quite like Davis does.
As it stands, every song on Kind Of Blue has a play count of over 200 on iTunes, Blue In Green being the winner with 400+, and I’ve worn the vinyl down to the size of a floppy disk by now. Almost every song has some sort of sentimental value to me. Mornings spent in bed with a significant other listening to Blue In Green, or long nights alone listening to So What. I listen to Miles when I’m in my best spirits, and when I’m at my worst, as the highs and lows of the album always seem to hit the hardest.
While I love all of his albums, the first time I heard Kind Of Blue, it changed my whole perspective on what kind of music I like. Back when I was listening to 50 Cent and whatever the hell Ja Rule (where is he) was putting out, my step dad told me about Kind Of Blue and I stopped caring about anything else music-wise.
Miles died 20 years ago today at age 65 out of a combination of stroke, pneumonia and respiratory failure, and while there’s no amount of writing I can do to even begin to touch on what he did for music as a whole, I hope everyone takes a second out of their day to listen to, download, or go buy something of his, and just enjoy it. Rest in peace, to one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Just hearing the names of these tunes bring back memories of playing a few of them in the jazz band. And I’m ashamed...
